My nails this past week were entirely inspired by Little Shop of Horrors, and our wonderful, lovely little plant (wish I had pictures of it...)

This time, it was insanely hard to get a decent picture of my nails. I don't honestly know why. Oh well! It was really fun. :>

Manicure and Music Monday

Alright, so I did finally get that black and red glitter mix off my nails, and I traded it in for something so unlike the typical "me" (keep in mind that I spent most of my life hating girly stuff, and that even in heels and a dress, I'm still a bit of a tomboy) that my mother did a double take when she noticed it. What is this color?

Pale.
Ladylike.
Pink.
(Seriously, I'm surprised I'm willingly wearing it...)

Subtle Shine

I'm baaaaaaaaaaaaaaack!

This manicure I've got on is literally three weeks old, and I still can't bring myself to get rid of it. It's just so pretty.

F21 Red. (It's a glitter topcoat...)

It's hard to see in the pictures (and in real life, apparently...) but the red absolutely sparkles on top of the red under the right lighting conditions, and it makes me happily squeal inside whenever I look at it. I suppose I'll finally make myself change it sometime this week...but only because I got some new nail polish that looks really pretty.

Hot Pink

This is what I have discovered from actually using my Twitter this past week: if it isn't one thing EVERYWHERE, it's another. Prabal Gurung was literally my entire feed for about six straight hours. (Maybe this is because, other than some Harry Potter stars, I'm mainly following fashion people who're based in New York...) I didn't mind that much, though, the collection is gorgeous. Anyhow, we're starting the week off easy on here, with just my mani for the week. This one was actually inspired by a pin on Pinterest.

So this is definitely an interesting one to try. I need to acquire some more matte polishes to try it in other colors, just for my personal curiousity on the subject, though.

Stripes

"Happy" Monday! I don't want it to be Monday, obviously, but you probably feel the same way. Anyhow, I finally got around to getting my last, very very chipped manicure off, and this is the result.

I actually wore this color scheme a while back, and I had to try it again. I just really love the two of them together. They may be my nail polish OTP. Now, wanna hear the story behind that purple bandaid? Saturday, I was moving my bed around, because one side was more broken down than the other, and my hand slipped and came down on this metal part of the frame, and BAM!, sliced-open thumb, somehow. It's nasty to look at without the bandaid, seriously. 

Hopefully nobody else had injuries over the weekend!

Used two Zoya colors. My first matte polish! I love the texture and look. Very gorgeous. I got them free thanks to a deal put up on Refinery 29. Pretty cool! :>

I'm eyeing Essie's "Secret Story" for next week. Yes, pink polish. I'm shocked at myself too, but oh well~! It looks like a fun color, and I'm old enough now to be over my pink-hating prejudices (though it will never be my favorite, I don't hate it anymore, and actually kind of enjoy it, so I think that's the important part).

Kind of Crazy

Now is when I shake my head slightly and admit I thought polishes from OPI and Zoya weren't worth the money. I can't stop rubbing my nails because they're /so/ smooth.

Do you like the more expensive polish brands, or is cheap good enough? I've been arguing both sides with myself, and I'd love to hear some other opinions.

Slow, Kids at Play

Well, okay, I only count as a kid for another thirty-four days, but that really isn't the point here.

I've been on a beauty kick of late, playing around with various makeups. I've gone from having so little makeup I had no need to corral it to actually having to buy something to keep it in. (Something that I'm somehow outgrowing...). I even just (yesterday) signed up for Birchbox, which sends makeup samples and stuff to your house. But my nailpolish collection is what's really exploded...as has my ability to actually paint my nails.

Sally Girl, some color I can't find the name of.

I recently got this Peacekeeper nail polish on sale at Sprouts for $2.97. That name is a guess off the colors on the site, since it didn't say the name. It's pretty smooth, but I'm thinking it'd be better with a topcoat that isn't super old. I have been using one that's like five years old... Anyhow, this was a totally simple nail except on the thumb. I'm not sure why I picked the thumb for accent nail, but I didn't want to do it on my ring finger for some reason. Oh well! I'll be special.

Go Ravenclaw! (And Gryffindor too!)

...it actually didn't occur to me that I was doing those House colors when I was doing my nails. Sure, there was no bronze for the Ravens, but gold's close enough for this.

Experimenting with nail patterns is pretty fun. I'm considering grabbing one of those nail markers and trying that for chevron nails the next time I swap colors.

Nails

Despite not managing a second post last week (fail!) I do have my nails for you. I had fun with them.

 

I used the "Gold" and "Nude" polishes from Forever 21. I like the F21 polishes because...they're cheap. Yup. I'm pretty simply, there.

When I dredge up the effort to take this polish off and do something else, I might try another pattern of some sort.
