HALLOWEEN

While I had three Halloween costumes, only one of them is making it here.  I don't have the pictures of one costume, the other was worn to the shadow cast of Rocky Horror, so let's just say it doesn't need to be seen anywhere but that event (because that event requires a certain level of pure ridiculousness that nothing else needs), and the final one is..........UMBRIDGE.  That's right, I dressed up as Dolores Umbridge from Harry Potter.

Obviously I don't have the mousy brown hair or a particularly toad-like appearance, as she is described to, but I apparently pulled the personality off quite well when I wasn't dying laughing about something. Also, there's now a funny story attached to this costume!  The party this was taken at was for a club, and I came straight from PE for the exec meeting.  After that, the president and I went to change.  I had forgotten that she was going to be Miley Cyrus, so I was a little confused when I heard 'Wrecking Ball' start blasting while I was still changing, but just figured 'maybe she really likes the song'.  Nope.  When I emerged from the bathroom, she stepped out into the archway separating the bathrooms from the main room of the area we were in, lip-synching into her sledgehammer and swaying her hips.  It was an experience.

(She also made a point of licking her sledgehammer and making awkward eye-contact every time someone new walked into one of the rooms we had reserved for this party.  Which mostly involved watching this video of someone playing Slender in "$20 Dollar Mode" and teasing this one couple for accidentally being Orange is the New Black without even planning it.  Oh, and in case you're wondering, Miley won a pumpkin for having the scariest costume, by a unanimous vote).

Did y'all dress up for Halloween?  Any funny stories?

Halloween

My Halloween costume this year was inspired by finally seeing The Avengers, I will admit. You would think that at a university where almost everyone is pre-med or engineering and therefore inundated by constant homework and fretting about grades, that Halloween would be overshadowed by panic over midterms, but I think Halloween is the most popular event at the school. This could be because Halloween only requires you to wear a costume, and doesn't necessarily mean you need to party, but most people seemed to be making their costumes - or props - from scraps. For example, one of my engineering friends made another of our friends an Iron Man hand. (It even had LED lights to create the glow from the pulser thingies). To be fair, he also spent about a week making a Daft Punk helmet for his own costume. (We're plotting to make a Thor costume for next year, for his roommate, who is like a shorter Chris Hemsworth). My costume required much less effort - although, I think that if I reprise it next year, I'll have to acquire some extra props - because it only required a few items from my own wardrobe to become the Black Widow.

Vest/blazer - thrifted | Pants - Windsor | Boots - Charlotte Russe

There's also some snazzy face-paint in there from the Halloween festival the student programming board held here, which was fun.

How was your Halloween? Did you dress up?

Hunger Games Premier!

EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

okay, okay. I'll breathe! I'm just SO excited for this! I've never squealed while buying tickets for a movie before, but I did for this. I think it's mostly because I'm going to the midnight premier! But still! Excited!

I'm dressing up, like approximately almost every fan attending, so I picked Foxface, for the red hair.

Jacket - thrifted | Shirt - Bui Yah Kah | Pants - Windsor | Boots - Wet Seal | Belt - I dunno...

I may have gotten a bit into character for shooting this... Also, get a load of our white sky. What's up with that, Texas? Usually your sky is so blue it's blinding, then it's so...bleh whenever I want to take pictures outdoors. Oh well - I'm crazy excited for this movie! One more hour till I go to the theater to make sure I've got the tickets and stuff! I'll stop the gratuitous abuse of the exclamation point later!

(And yes, I know the pants aren't the right color, ah well... I don't own anything khaki, and I'm seven inches shorter than the next-shortest person in the house...)

Okay, now, I'm going to go take a deep breath and continue doing things.

Share any premier outfits, guys!

Helmet Hair & Sunglasses

Remember this post and this post? Well, I finally reshot the outfit, since the dress survived!

The Seniors, for Homecoming Week, had the theme "East" under the overall theme of "America" (say it like Bush Jr. and you'll have the actual theme). Of course, I immediately knew I had to pay tribute to Anna Wintour. Oh yes... A slightly too-blond wig (everything the proper shade was curly and long :/ ) made it very possible. That, and some google searches. I took inspiration from this outfit she rocked a while back, adapting it to my wardrobe and the fact I'd be outside a bit. Yes, I wore sunglasses all day...

Wig - some Halloween store | Sunglasses - gas station | Dress - Lily | Tights - Forever 21 | Heels - Rue 21

What do you think?

Snape, Snape, Severus Snape

I decided to go for it and crossdress for Halloween. The result? A Snape, Michael Jackson, Dementor lovechild. (At least, that's how one of my friends chose to describe it...)

Oxford - school uniform | Tank - Wet Seal | Pants - La Luna Loca | Shoes - New Balance | Blazer/Cloak - Thrifted | Wig - some Halloween store

Yeah...the rings being in there is an accident. I didn't remember them until I got home. xD; Oh well~!

Red/White/Blue

My school's Homecoming theme this year is "Amurrca". Well, America, really, but we feel the compulsion to pronounce it George Bush Jr.-style. For four days out of the week, we get to dress with themes. (Thursday is dress uniform for Eucharist...did you know it was disrespectful to God to not wear ugly plaid jumpers to church/chapel? That's your How-God-Works-At-Christian-Schools for the day...) I won't be participating on Wednesday, because I didn't have the cash flow to buy one ($15 for a t-shirt, seriously!? It's grey and the only silkscreening is our school name and an American flag on the back...). However, I'm totally posting the other days.

Yesterday's theme was "Red, White, and Blue". I went without any white because my white shoes are either house shoes or mega-uncomfortable. Oh, and this leather jacket is one of two items I bought at discount store Fallas this past weekend. You'll see the other soon. ;)

Jacket - Fallas | Cami - DEB | Jeans - ??? | Heels - Payless

And have a clip from the larger versions of these pictures of the Texas sky. Yes, it's really that blue.

And a teaser for today's outfit, which you'll see in full tomorrow.

The theme is East, and I'm going as someone known for a bit of a darker shade of this...
