Personally, I think my favorite of these is either the floral blazer or the hot pink one. Somehow, I think the floral one is more in my price range, though... What about you?

spring blazers
I follow a lot of blogs seriously (as in I comment just about every day), and I tacitly stalk quite a few more. They inspire me a lot, especially when I begin to fall into ruts or routines. As I've mentioned before, I rather enjoy having a bit of chaos in my life, and sometimes that comes from trying really odd combinations or just from seeing something that sparks a weird train of thought. (I'm not entirely joking when I say that one of my current ideas for my COGS final paper comes from Pinterest - a dress I saw on there earlier yesterday, while in class, reminded me of a TED Talk I saw (and shared with y'all) by a model, and since then, my thoughts have been in a more or less steady movement towards compiling those notions with what we've learned in class). Most of the time, I get a much more straightforward inspiration than that, of course, such as today. Everywhere I've looked, I've seen really cool blazers. I saw a really cool fading-into-floral one a while back, and while I couldn't find it, there is this gorgeous (and expensive, at $450) wrap dress that reminds me of the pattern...
I might consider adding a companion to my current, solo, black blazer. I'm sure it needs friends, right? Right? So, some of my favorite blazers right now...
Short and Sweet
Short suits have been everywhere this spring, haven't they? I've seen them all over street style snaps, and touted in magazines as a more comfortable but still work appropriate alternative to the full suit, as well as being just plain fun. Best of all, though, they aren't going to make you sweat to death in the heat of someplace (coughTexascough).

They're also pretty easy and simple to style. You can go matchy-matchy with your jacket and shorts, or you can mix it up and pair a different color of jacket and shorts, like I did. Monochrome is a possibility here - I'd recommend it with lighter colors, though, since the whole point of this is to have it be airy, and black is unfortunately lacking in airiness. Colorblocking is also an easy trend, and obviously what I chose to go with, and it's made easier by the popularity and easy availability of colorful shirts, blazers, and shorts. I was cautious with a black blazer (and also sane, because I look awful in white, which is currently the only other one I have). If you're going for a more formal vibe than me, I'd suggest heels of some variety, or wedges, rather than flat sandals. Here are some less color-ific variants of the short suit to help inspire you!

Ladylike
I've worn so many dresses and skirts lately, it's really impressive. Especially after the years of being anti-skirt! It's kind of...amazing. I've found one makeup thing that I can manage to do semi-regularly - bold, filled-in brows, every day (up until I lost my eyeliner pencil for that... Motivation to clean up the mess sometimes known as my floor). Everything is, as I've mentioned, a mess because of graduation. There are parties right and left and on towards the second star to the right, dozens of job applications needing to be filled out (in internet speak: gbjnhrjneknjibneji), regularly scheduled panic attacks about "oh no I'm an adult now how do you adult!?", etc. All these pictures, by the way, are of before I cut my hair. We'll get to post-cut pictures soon enough...

I wore this to my Government class' trip to jail and court a while back. It was a fascinating trip - jails now are so different from what you see on TV and in books, it's amazing, courtrooms are actually really boring. (Seriously, courtrooms are the most boring place on the planet... I fell asleep three times in there, until the bailiff woke me up, and I was nowhere close to the only one). I'm definitely not interested in working in law after that visit - probably a good thing to know what it's really like, since I had been contemplating that as a potential thing. I also wore this outfit about a week ago, visiting my grandmother in Arkansas at the hospital she has been stuck at for bronchitis for quite a while. Happily, she started recovering shortly after we visited, so hopefully we'll manage to see her at her house this summer before I go off to college!
I do not remember what I wore the following outfit for, but I found it in my picture files and went "wait what OH MY GOSH". I'm a fan of scarfs as belts, definitely...

Look at how absolutely white my back is... Just stare at how blinding it is. That is why I don't wear bikinis, people!
Finally, a look from one of the numerous graduation parties I've been attending lately. (If you want an idea of the numbers without making my tired brain attempt to count...well, it's been enough that I actually forgot to get pictures of the one I went to today...not that it was great, as I got the time mixed up with one of the ones later this week, and had to get into something appropriate for a party instead of yard work... People with good phones, here's a tip - use alerts on your calendar, it's a life-saver and keeps you from being unintentionally rude to your friends!) Anyhow, the theme of this party was "English Tea Party" and we were under strict orders to wear hats. I happily obliged!

Buns
Okay, I'm mostly recovered from the argyle chaps. (Mostly... I'm just going "wtf" a lot about them, but less horrified, at least...) Have a few pictures from last week, since I haven't really gotten out of the house in the past two days (yay being sick!!!!!!)
If you follow me on Twitter, you would have seen this picture a while back of me at school. See, the story is, a friend of mine gave me this REALLY awesome hairpin from her trip to Taiwan, where she was visiting her mom's family. Of course, I had to find some way to wear it that wouldn't have it falling out. (Let's not talk about the attempt we did the day I got it that involved a braid...) I thought of the on-top-of-the-head bun later. It looks waaaay better at the start of the day than the end of the day, which is, of course, when the following pictures utilizing the bun style were taken.
Our first outfit was taken the same day as the twitpic, last Wednesday, when I went to a meeting for planning my school's senior party.

The bun came out again for the next day, mainly for keeping my hair out of my face while we learned blocking for a song at practice.

Sundry Outfits
This...is pretty much a shallow excuse to show off my blazer some more. I'm sorry, I'm just in love with it, now that it's cold and I'm not sweltering when I try to wear it. Clearly, the way to deal with this is to move somewhere it's about fifty degrees Fahrenheit year round. Any suggestions~?
First up, I wore this to my parent's church group thing where I got an awesome silver dish now housing some of my bracelets (because my collection's outgrown the three things I've got holding bracelets...) among other things. I love Secret Santa stuff!

Still trying to decide how I feel about wearing that shirt. But I also think I need to work on my posing. xD;
