Say Goodbye to the Hair

Except for one last set of pictures that you'll be seeing shortly, this is the last you're going to see of my "long" curls for quite a while. I like the short hair, so I believe I'll maintain it for a while. Oh, did I mention, I also got nude heels back on that trip to visit my grandmother. We're visiting her again this weekend, after my other two root canals.

First up, clothes from a choir concert! My uniform, and the outfit I wore for the fun stuff. (If you look closely, you can see how much my body has changed in the past year based off how awkwardly this dress fits. Proof that your body doesn't stop changing just because you're an "adult").

Figures I'd find the perfect shoes in another state. Not that I'm complaining about having them! They're really fun, and I love them.

Prom 2012

Prom happened a while ago. The first thing that needs to be said is... There was a face reader. As in, she looked at our face and described our personalities. And...she was creepily spot-on for everyone. (Apparently, the bigger your chin is, the greater your willpower...?) It was interesting and odd.

My hair managed to behave itself for this. My trick to getting these curls is to put your wet hair into pigtails and twist them in towards your face and leave them. When the hair's dry, you separate out sections, and, yay, curls!

Anyhow, the night was fun, and I'm finishing up this post on the heels of a root canal, so...
(Brush your teeth like your life depends on it, root canals are NOT fun and I still have another two to go and you really don't want to have one! (Also, if you have children who hate brushing their teeth, I believe I now possess the ability to scare them into it...))

Ladylike

I've worn so many dresses and skirts lately, it's really impressive. Especially after the years of being anti-skirt! It's kind of...amazing. I've found one makeup thing that I can manage to do semi-regularly - bold, filled-in brows, every day (up until I lost my eyeliner pencil for that... Motivation to clean up the mess sometimes known as my floor). Everything is, as I've mentioned, a mess because of graduation. There are parties right and left and on towards the second star to the right, dozens of job applications needing to be filled out (in internet speak: gbjnhrjneknjibneji), regularly scheduled panic attacks about "oh no I'm an adult now how do you adult!?", etc. All these pictures, by the way, are of before I cut my hair. We'll get to post-cut pictures soon enough...

I wore this to my Government class' trip to jail and court a while back. It was a fascinating trip - jails now are so different from what you see on TV and in books, it's amazing, courtrooms are actually really boring. (Seriously, courtrooms are the most boring place on the planet... I fell asleep three times in there, until the bailiff woke me up, and I was nowhere close to the only one). I'm definitely not interested in working in law after that visit - probably a good thing to know what it's really like, since I had been contemplating that as a potential thing. I also wore this outfit about a week ago, visiting my grandmother in Arkansas at the hospital she has been stuck at for bronchitis for quite a while. Happily, she started recovering shortly after we visited, so hopefully we'll manage to see her at her house this summer before I go off to college!

I do not remember what I wore the following outfit for, but I found it in my picture files and went "wait what OH MY GOSH". I'm a fan of scarfs as belts, definitely...

Look at how absolutely white my back is... Just stare at how blinding it is. That is why I don't wear bikinis, people!

Finally, a look from one of the numerous graduation parties I've been attending lately. (If you want an idea of the numbers without making my tired brain attempt to count...well, it's been enough that I actually forgot to get pictures of the one I went to today...not that it was great, as I got the time mixed up with one of the ones later this week, and had to get into something appropriate for a party instead of yard work... People with good phones, here's a tip - use alerts on your calendar, it's a life-saver and keeps you from being unintentionally rude to your friends!) Anyhow, the theme of this party was "English Tea Party" and we were under strict orders to wear hats. I happily obliged!

I'm Back!

Oh my... I certainly fell off the face of the Earth again, didn't I? Sorry about that... Graduation and job-hunting has sort of taken over my life, quite frankly, along with learning to code designs of webpages. Prom overtook my life too, for a little bit, but graduation has been The Ultimate in "let's make Sue panic, it'll be fuuuuuuuun!!!"  I've been doing everything - hunting for "that" dress, decorating my cap (and figuring out how to wear it), trying to figure out dorms (I still don't have a roommate...if, by some miracle, someone from CWRU still minus a roomie is reading this, PLEASE hunt my face down on facebook and talk to me!), staring aimlessly at my screen contemplating the mechanics of time, and coming up with dozens of ideas I will probably never have the time or energy or money to put into action. (I know the exact type of home I want when I'm older, but I don't even know the sort of career I want... I don't think that's fair!)

Oh, and in between all the test-taking, job-applying, and general nuttiness, I somehow got bored last week, found a pair of scissors and my trash can, and, well...

What do you think? I'm excited, because I haven't had short hair since ninth grade, and, what can I say, my scissors did a heck of a better job than the scissors of the person I paid almost $100 to for a mess. I definitely think there are still reasons to have hairdressers, but...make sure you're very specific and don't just say "short". The spirit of my chop in ninth grade is begging you. (I wanted hair like Charlize Theron as Aeon Flux, I got hair like Adrian Grenier). Anyhow, that's my big change. (I'm aware that cutting it before graduation was crazy, but my cures to boredom are unfortunately impulsive. They do always work, though!) I've got a blogger award to respond to, a TON of outfits to get up, and quite a few graduation parties to go to, but I don't intend to fall off the internet again until my first college finals week.

See you tomorrow!
